What is the name of the river that flows through the centre of Dublin?

Comment s’appelle le fleuve qui traverse le centre de Dublin?

  1. The Liffey or “Abhainn na Life” in Gaelic, which was anglicised as Anna Liffey. Interestingly to all you etymologists out there The “Ab” in Abhainn betrays its proto Indo-European linguistic origins from the Sanskrit root Ab for river as in “Punj –Ab” = 5 rivers or Do-Ab = two rivers (Jalandhar Doab = Jalandhar between the two rivers). The same proto Indo root appears in English in Avon and Afton.
