Mea culpa - Quiz 7 September 2016

Just back from holidays, stressed and all that...

I screwed up two questions in the Quiz last night. I'm not proud! Here are the correct versions of the two questions:

5 Sep 1939:
Which country declared its neutrality in World War II?

7 Sep 1930:
Birth of the predecessor of the predecessor [sic] of the current King of the Belgians; what was his name?

Erratum – 13 July 2016

At the Quiz this week there was a particularly loud gentleman standing right next to me who constantly objected to my questions and answers.

For example, he screamed at me and banged the counter when I announced that Theresa May is the prime minister of the UK, insisting that Cameron would be in office until October.  When the barman switched on a rolling news TV channel where this was their number one item, he still objected saying he couldn't be expected to know "breaking news" stories and the question was therefore unfair.

He made such a racket that I lost concentration at one point and announced the wrong answer to one question. Here is the question and the correct answer:
Which of these towns has a seafront: Bayonne, Biarritz, or both?

Answer: Biarritz

Sorry about that.

One more time... the Quiz will go on!

The Quiz takes place as usual tonight at the Green Linnet, despite the Euro 2016 semi-final. Rounds 1 and 2 will be at half time, and 3 and 4 at the end.   However, there will be no bonus question.
Come on the Green-and-Reds!

22 June 2016

The show still goes on!

The Quiz takes place as usual tonight at the Green Linnet, even though tonight's match is much more important than last week's (and I'm not talking about Sweden-Belgium).
We'll have rounds 1 and 2 at half time, and Rounds 3 and 4 at the end.
There will be no bonus question, and the calculation question will be quite easy.

15 June 2016

The show goes on – despite Euro 2016!

The Quiz takes place as usual tonight at the Green Linnet, despite the France-Albania match. Depending on the mood of the crowd, I might do rounds 1 & 2 at half time, and 3 & 4 at the end.
However, there will be no bonus question and no calculation question.

Toughest question of the week - Quiz 23 March 2016

Judging by the number of correct answers (zero), this was the most difficult question at last night's Quiz:

What is the name of the artistic technique in which only one colour is used, but diluted to produce different degrees of intensity?
